There is no doubt that many of our members are super excited for the Super Bowl. But as you are promoting the festivities happening at the club, it is oh-so-important to remember that you cannot use the word “Super Bowl.” It’s a trademarked term and one you need to get permission to use for promotions. One of the features that has maintained the quality of the Instagram platform is the inability to put links in the photo description. This makes it tough to promote events and get people to click where you’d like them to, but keeps the user experience clean. You’ve probably seen the phrase “Link in bio” on Instagram posts. This is a clever app that allows you to place one link in your Instagram bio and then when folks click, they can choose from a number of articles or links you’ve shared in your posts. One question that came up in the workshop yesterday was, “How do we get our Members to follow our social accounts?” A good way to have a large number of members follow and like your social media accounts is to help them use social media well. Hold freebie lessons on Facebook, Instagram and your club app. They will so appreciate the knowledge. You can also make a point in orientations and committee meetings and appropriate events to remind members to follow the club online. Have it become part of the welcomes or farewells at the front desk, “Have you followed us online?”

January is still a perfectly fine month to set goals and prepare for the year. In fact, anytime you want to revamp your email format or fill up those content plans…go for it. It’s never too late and there is never a bad time to tweak or update or change. This year’s Tuesday Tips email will look a bit different and it may even look different next week. I’m still fine tuning! Try a new style with your members this month and see how they respond. I’m happy to hear your feedback!
