The Socially Networked Bride
No, I’m not talking about me! I’m talking about great statistics! I found this article this week which shares a lovely infographic full of digital trends in wedding planning (below). This is particularly “good stuff” for all of my private event peeps! Let me hear ‘ya say, “Woop woop!”
It is always good to remember that our club members are online. We need to make sure we meet our members online to effectively communicate, and exceed expectations. Brides are especially tech savvy, and you can better serve them by knowing what’s happening online and how brides are using social media to plan and prepare for their big day.
When 55% of brides are using hashtags for their weddings, and 20% are including those hashtags on programs, what are you doing to help them? Do you offer program printing services and suggest the inclusion of a hashtag? Do you have table signs and displays to help guests use the wedding hashtag? If the bride is an Instagram user or Tweeter, do you suggest the use of monitors to display all the tweets/photos being posted with their wedding day hashtag?
Are you on Pinterest, with a shared board between the two of you, helping the bride with ideas and the planning process? If 74% of brides are using an online site for wedding music, are you bookmarking those sites and playlists and making the suggestion to your bride? When 32% of brides are paying vendors online via systems like PayPal, what are you doing to make it easy for them to pay you?
Data like this is extremely valuable to those of us in the club industry. It can help us anticipate needs, make better suggestions and ultimately, help the bride plan the wedding of her dreams. Take note of what’s on offer in this infographic and get creative how you can incorporate these trends in the services and wedding packages you offer at your club.
